There is a reason why they used drag chute to stop the shuttle and that is because they couldn’t use thrust reversers on the engines for two reasons: 1) they would make a loud roaring sound when deployed and 2) they could be easily spotted on the engines and could have made concealing the engines difficult and would give everything away. Another likely reason is that deploying the chute will make the shuttle more look like a powerless glider to the ordinary people

I remember their shuttle. If I remember the story they told they launched it to space 1 time. I don’t remember this though and glad you found it. They led us to believe that the Russians copied us.
