I have several familiy members who live in Westchester County, NY. They tell me that Hurricane Erin was always forecast to be pushed away from the US coast by that powerful cold front. The storm track confirms Erin began a right turn over 100 miles east of North Carolina and never really approached New York, thus was never a threat to the Concord being able to land. However I will say that Erin was most likely an engineered storm to crank it up to hurricane force winds for reasons that are not clear.
