People like stories. It’s the narrative that drives them. Stories are the basis of our belief systems. The matrix of society is a narrative framework, built on a combination of heart-warming, terrifying, comforting, fear-motivating, angry and hope-inspiring stories to give people a fabricated compass to guide their lives. Control the framework, the narratives, and you can control the beliefs, and therefore behavior, of the majority. You can change their compass by modifying narratives. Make them wear masks, social distance, and enthusiastically take any drug, harmful or not. And they will do it willingly, as long as the narrative supports it. Everyone is back in the tribe, sitting around the camp fire. Telling stories.

Hard to argue with that. It’s odd how people will tend to believe almost any narrative, as long as it has a beginning and an end, and is told like a story, over clear and undeniable evidence that leaves a story without closure. People just like complete stories. Try to tell any professional PhD, or even high-end engineer today with a 30+ year career that there are strong arguments demonstrating that people really didn’t walk on the moon during Nixon’s presidency. Good luck even getting someone to listen or look at the evidence and reasoning. They know what they know, and they like the story.

Of course, $700 is pretty inexpensive for something with all of that automation. It’s amazing how cheap the electronics have gotten. Those servos have to be half-way decent or their positions will eventually slip a bit. I wonder if it’s controlled by a bunch of minimized Adafruit boards or something. I’d like to get one and take it apart. It would be a good learning experience.
