It was used as a psyop. Actually, we were not that bothered by the entire nuclear thing. Maybe some people were, but I remember the late 60s and 70s as total and complete freedom and fun. Totally free. you just got in your car and drove off, or hitchhiked to one of the coasts or what ever. Jobs were good and fun. NO CELL PHONES. LAND LINES. Communication and "social media" was done every night for most of us, at a local nightclub or lounge or bar. NO BIG TVs. People spoke with each other. Liked each other -- networked for jobs and socially. It was the best time to be alive. Plus the bars were open until 3:30, the drinking age was 18, and I say this not because I drank a lot or drink a lot, but it was social. It was fun. You would latch on to a new friend (usually of the opposite sex) every dang night. You would do things. Go camping, go for a drive, there wasn’t a bizarre obsession with having a device controlling you in your hand.

I mean very tail end and not really a boomer as I was the one who waited on the boomers (yuppies) I will never forget at about age 6 - in a huge gym in a grade school in Milwaukee. Single file with the air raid drill so loud we covered our ears. We all were told to get down on the floor and cover our heads. Then they would turn the lights out and slowly the siren was lowered and turned off. All of this for nothing. Dr. Lorraine Day has a good one on this -- many people do believe this now. Also, there was no moon landing and the Bezos thing was the most hilarious "space rocket" lol. Thanks for this.
