WPTV news channel Fives Ryan Hughes is in Boca Raton to explain. About 60 principals in this school district underwent two hours of Holocaust education training. The anti-defamation leak says the lessons are not new, but even more important after Spennings River High School found itself at the center of controversy this summer. The stories from real life Holocaust survivors and archive photos from the World War Two genocide of Jews. It's called echoes and reflections of multimedia Holocaust curriculum being taught to educators in Palm Beach County. How can they pick and choose different lesson plans? Adapt those lesson plans to what they're currently teaching. Yeah, El Hirschfield is the deputy regional director for the anti-defamation leak. She says this school district has been implementing echoes for years, but after William Latson, the former principal at Spennings River High School, sent an email to a parent writing he could not see the Holocaust was a factual historical event that ADL once again approached the administration. The district says this training was unrelated to Latson and they are required to include Holocaust lessons in school. We have a lot of family members that were affected directly by the Holocaust. Marina thinks daughter is a senior at Spennings River. She says she was appalled by Latson's comments and is glad the Holocaust is required learning and this training is giving it deeper meaning. The teachers need to make sure they have enough education. When we're told Spennings River's new principal, Alison Castelano, was at the training.
