"I WAS THERE" Hurricane Katrina Storm Surge - Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi
August 29th 2005 was one of the worst days of my life! Hurricane Katrina was due to make landfall in the early morning and I knew we were in BIG trouble. I was about 3-4 BLOCKS straight ahead from the beach very close to Keesler Air Force base and Pass Road. When the storm made landfall I was in the WORST possible place one could be, upper right quadrant from the eye! It was like a nuclear blast went off because I could see the beach where before I couldn't. Without going into upsetting detail about some of the things I saw. It has been burned into my brain and caused some very grim depression. My house was destroyed and had I been in it I would have been too. This video was made not far from me at all and gives you an example of the nearly 30 ft. storm surge that leveled the entire area.
IN REMEMBRANCE OF ALL THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES AND SUFFERED!!!

This is looking outside our fourth floor window at the Holiday Inn in Gulfport, Mississippi. This is during the aisle wall of Hurricane Katrina. You can see the waves coming through. That's coming through the building and still causing waves like that. Because this is all blocked off on the sides. Look at that. Here we are in the fourth floor here.
