Last night, the United States brought the world's number one terrorist leader to justice. Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi is dead. Hello, kitty posters and chum. Major new developments this morning. The leader of ISIS, Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi, the Russian Defense Ministry says that it is investigating reports that Baghdadi was among those killed in an air strike on an ISIS command post in Syria. The U.S. says it cannot confirm those reports right now, and there is quite a bit of skepticism among experts about these claims. But this hour, the U.S. officials have confirmed that Russia conducted strikes on the day they say Baghdadi may have been killed. This morning, the Russian Defense Ministry released these images claiming to show the aftermath of the strike in Raqqa. An important bit of context here from Pentagon correspondent Barbara Star, though, Russia tends to use unguided weapons, and these images appear from what she's hearing from folks that Pentagon appear to show a very precise air strike. Very little, I'm afraid. Would you like to... Now, in what could be a crushing blow to the terror outfit ISIS, radio Iran has announced that its chief Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi is no more. Providing no further details, the state run radio Iran agency tweeted this information on its official Twitter handle that Baghdadi is dead a week ago. Sources had told UK's garden newspaper that Baghdadi had suffered serious injuries during an attack by U.S. fighter jets that bombed Eastern Iraq in March. The wounds were reported to be so bad that Baghdadi nearly died, but had been slowly nursed back to a stable state at a hidden location that have been rumours in the past of Baghdadi's health, though the radio Iran report is the first report that categorically states that he's dead. They were al-Qaeda's top two leaders in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Abu Ayub al-Masri. Both have been killed by U.S. and Iraqi forces. Their deaths are potentially devastating blows to al-Qaeda Iraq.
