I'm sorry. She's tired of covering this. Are you guys tired of being here and having to cover all of these mass shootings? I'm from Highland, Park, Illinois. My son and I survived a mass shooting over the summer. There's blood everywhere. People are dead. Oh my God. Breaking news. Just north of Chicago. Sorry, it's revealed a seventh victim has now died with more than 30 injured. Asmi remembers running for her life, dragging her son to safety. We just ran. I just grabbed his hand and we ran and he wouldn't run. He coward and screamed. He didn't want to get shot and he didn't want to die. Asmi says Congress needs to take action so families can live without fear. If you come face to face with one of these gun manufacturers who's fighting against this weapons ban, what would you say to them? I would ask them how do you explain to your children, how do you explain to your grandchildren that you produce something that is made and built just to kill people, to kill little kids, to kill grandparents. This summer I am in Tennessee on a family vacation with my son visiting my sister-in-law. I have been lobbying in DC since we survived a mass shooting in July. I have met with over 130 lawmakers. How is this still happening? How are our children still dying and why are we failing them? Gun violence is the number one killer of children and teams. It has overtaken cars. Assault weapons are contributing to the border crisis and fentanyl. We are arming cartels with our guns and our loose gun laws and these shootings and these mass shootings will continue to happen until our lawmakers step up and pass gun safety legislation. I am pretty sure this was an unsecured weapon that this teenager got a hold of. We can't even pass gun safety, like safe storage laws in this country to protect kids from getting a hold of weapons that they shoot each other with. Aren't you guys tired of this? Are you guys sick of it? We have to do something. We all have to call our lawmakers and we all have to make our lawmakers make change now. Or this is going to keep happening and it's going to be your kid and your kid and your kid and your kid next because it's just a matter of time. I have to be beasley. I'm from Highland Park, Illinois. I was actually in town just on vacation but I'm a mass shooting survivor. My son and I survived a mass shooting in Highland Park where there was a shooting at a parade that we were at and we ran for our lives. And this is just unacceptable. It's only in America that can somebody survive a mass shooting and then go on vacation to visit another person that they have met through fighting for gun safety and find themselves at another and about like near another mass shooting. Like only, you know what I mean? Like only in America does this happen where we keep seeing this again and again and again. You know, only in America does her son survive a mass shooting and then you know end up in a locked-down school because there is another mass shooting. Yeah. This is an epidemic. Gun violence is an epidemic and it needs it needs to be resolved. It needs to be addressed. When you hear about it happening at a school again, what what goes through your your head? I mean, for me, the statistics start running like it's likely this gun was purchased legally. It's likely it was not stored properly and a child took it. I heard that it might have been a child or a sixth grader. And I mean, just how preventable this is, how preventable these incidences are, how we should pass gun safety legislation and lock-up weapons and you know, put background checks, require background checks on every single gun purchase, the anti-salt weapons. My name is Jill Biden. I'm Dr. Jill Biden's husband. And I hit his ice cream, chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream. By the way, I have a whole refrigerator for upstairs. I think I'm kidding. I'm not. God. Ben Howell-Wayapal, one of the best guys in the United States Congress, Ben Cardin. Woo! APPLAUSE Folks, welcome to the White House. It has to light to have you all here. Who of those good-looking kids back here? They're your kids, all four of them? Well, stand up, guys. APPLAUSE Well, I want you to know, like you, I had two brothers, three in our family, three brothers, and one sister. My sister is smart and all of us. Not a joke. She used to be three years younger than me. Now she's 23 years younger than me. Yeah? Yeah? She manages every one of my campaigns for office, even back when I was in high school. We went to the same university two years apart. She graduated honors, I graduated. LAUGHTER And we had a simple rule in the family. Listen to Val. My sister Val is incredible. So guys, be nice to your sister. You're going to need her. You're going to need her, I promise. It's the same lineup. You're the oldest. Who's number two? Number two? Who's number three? You guys twins? No, I'm twins. OK. All right. This was just how it was in our outfit. Well, I'm so glad to see you all. Thanks for coming with mom, OK? You got to take care of your mom. Dad's were much harder to raise, but, you know. LAUGHTER Before I began to speak, the reason I spent a little time in the kids, I just wanted to speak very briefly about the school shooting and national Tennessee. You know, Ben and I have been doing this our whole career, as it seems. And it's just sick. You know, we're still gathering the facts of what happened and why. And we do know that, as of now, there are a number of people who are not going to, did not make it.
