people across the Kansas City community are coming together now to support the people affected by the shooting and they're using their own gifts the way they know how. One example, the United Way of Greater Kansas City connecting with the chiefs, as Fox 4's Reagan Porter explained, they're driving resources to those in need. United Way of Greater Kansas City is raising money to support the victims in various ways. The KC Strong Fund is a partnership between the Kansas City chiefs and the United Way of Greater Kansas City. President and CEO Chris Rossin says the funds will go to support three primary things. First, the victims and their families. Our staff is working hand in hand with the staff at both the hospitals that have been that are treating the victims as well as in some cases directly with the victims family and selfs to make sure that resources get directly where they're needed most. Funds raised will also support violence prevention and recovery organizations, including mental health support services. And lastly, money will go to aid first responders. Rossin says in less than 24 hours, 300 people raised almost 25,000 dollars. And that number has only grown. You know, we say all the time that Kansas City is America's biggest small town. And this is really an opportunity for folks to help those who are directly impacted, their neighbors are directly impacted. Marisa Snyder plans to take this t-shirt press and turn out profits donating the money to United Way and the victims of the shooting. Nice, soft cotton, black gilding shirts. T-shirts are 25 dollars with this design. Snyder says she works with a woman who is family to a person who was shot at the rally. She says 100% of the proceeds are for them in the other victims. This directly impacted art community that I'm involved in, which is family to me. And you know, we live in Kansas City and love it here. We want to do what we can. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes and the 15 in the Mahomes Foundation donated 50,000 dollars to the Casey Strong Fund. The Chiefs, the Hunt Family Foundation and the NFL are supporting the Casey Strong Campaign with a $200,000 donation. Brigham Porter Fox 4 working for you. Hello everyone. On February 14th, 2024, one person was killed and over 20 people were wounded during the Kansas City Chiefs Parade, including nine children. What should have been a day of celebration and togetherness ended with senseless gun violence and a horrific tragedy. While I have no direct relationship with those impacted by this event, I live by the value of helping out others when they are in need. Kansas City taught me that. And I feel the more obligation to lend a hand to the victims. I've created a go fund me to help the victims of the parade shooting. 100% of the donations will go to the victims to help pay medical expenses and other necessary expenses. The link to the go fund me is in the description of this video. I knew from the beginning that I needed help with this fund. As of right now, I'm in communication with GoFundMe, organizations at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and students demand action as I need help properly distributing the funds to the victims and raising money for them as well. I have contacted Jim's Mercy about bringing gaming systems to the children impacted by the shooting in collaboration with the Kansas City pioneers. The work is not done though. I hope that with this video I can reach out to other organizations in the Kansas City metro area who can help me get in contact with the victims and help me raise as much money for them as possible. There are other ways to help besides my fund. Go to your local community blood center of Kansas City or any local blood drives to donate blood. There will be one for UMKC students on February 16th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Attabury Student Success Center in the Pearson Auditorium. Sign up on Rube Groups. Children's Mercy played a key role in keeping the hurt children safe. Their donation page will be in the description of this video. If any of the victims are seeing this, know that my heart goes out to you. I hope that what I am doing can provide really even comfort to your lives. To the citizens, local law enforcement and first responders, thank you for putting your lives on the line to help to attain the suspects while also caring for those who are shot on the scene. To the Kansas City Chiefs, players and coaches who are there to support and comfort those at the parade and, stead with them in the aftermath, thank you. To Kansas City, I hope my efforts can provide hope and optimism. I love this city and I know we can only strengthen as a community together. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
