And I didn't realize because after I was hit, it just, things kind of slowed down and I saw people running around me frantic and I fell to the ground, but it wasn't until people started to try to lift me up and I saw there were pools of blood on the ground and people were saying she's been shot. Johnathan and Kathy, it may be difficult to recognize it, but this is actually the famous intersection of Hollywood and Ireland, but you can barely make out the crosswalk with the sea of people that are just arriving here on the intersection. The crowd is continuing to make the push towards the west. So they started roughly at Hollywood and mine are now at Hollywood and Ireland. You can just see all of the people really taking up every inch down there. They're not only though on Hollywood Boulevard, there's also a few neighboring streets that just have a sea of people covering them. We were looking for police activity a few minutes ago, wondering where the police officers are down there if at all, but at this point, we actually haven't seen any officers down there. Normally they would get up ahead and perhaps walk some of the intersections, but we're still on the lookout to see if we can find any officers there on the ground. There is a police helicopter, though above it all, continuing to call on the radio and let the ground units know where all of these people are heading. But so far, this crowd has been very peaceful, continuing to march here on the streets of Hollywood, calling for justice in the death of George Floyd and calling it for an end to police brutality. That's the latest from over Hollywood in your shop before alpha. Let's send it back down to you in the studio. For the rest of the book. Okay, cool. Perfect. Thank you. You can orbit around for a while, Sarah. So warning to our viewers, some details of this report are disturbing. I would assume reporter Anita Baphoni is here now with the exclusive details. A man claims he lost his eye after he says a police officer shot him with what's called a Leslieville projectile in the early morning hours last Tuesday, the riots spilled into Kennedy Plaza. Oh my God. That's where a 29 year old man says he was driving when he saw multiple police officers chasing. Oh my God. Look. The poor black kid and gotta be a black kid too. And then holding down a man. Oh my God. Then the video shows the victim shouting at police. This video was taken by the victim's wife who was in the car. They both say they want to remain anonymous at a fear for their safety. All right, baby, but you don't want them. Please. The wife says the officer seen on the video, apparently turning and pointing a device toward the car shot the projectile that struck her husband. The video stops right before that happens. The victim's wife says after her husband was injured, she took control of the car and rushed to the hospital. If I would have waited any longer, the doctor told me he could have died right then downtown. According to his wife, the victim had to have his eye surgically removed because the injury was so severe and he needed facial reconstructive surgery over the weekend. A lifespan representative set a patient with the same name and age as the victim was listed in critical condition at Rhode Island hospital. We reached out to Providence Police in a statement, a spokesperson said in part, there was an active investigation into an incident that occurred amongst the chaos and mayhem that transpired during the destructive events within our city early Tuesday morning. Per protocol, the officer involves a 13 year member of the force has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of this investigation. The spokesperson added the officer who was placed on leave used what's called a less lethal device. The victim says they were just driving home when they came upon the riot. Look at me. How was the part of me in our guy? Now the victim tells me he never got out of his car. They have now hired an attorney in this case. A spokesperson for police tell me they are reviewing body cam footage from that night. I'm an attorney. The LAPD released body cam video of that violent arrest in Boyle Heights. And tonight, LAPD chief Michael Moore is taking the unusual step to address the incident. He released the video, even though the law says he doesn't have to. Legal analyst Steve Meister says it's just not known what led to this officer beakedown. The officers didn't run up on this guy aggressively. They walked up on him professionally and quietly and calmly and courteously was how they spoke to him. And he was immediately in their face and f bombs and cussing and menacing and threatening and warning them. Well, eventually the guy was taken into custody and later released pending investigation. According to the LA Times, the officer is Frank Hernandez. He's been with the department for more than 20 years, according to the Times report. It also goes on to say Hernandez has been involved in three on duty shootings, most recently in 2010. He's been assigned to home duties pending the investigation. Yes, disperses. They'll make their way back towards police again approaching. He just got, yeah, he's got a head in the chest. When Don lethal rounds. Hey. Hey, that's a bill. That's a bill. That's a bill. That's a bill. Officer, what's your name? I'm at well dispersed all throughout downtown here. And currently they are just directing folks westward, while still setting off more munitions. I have an arrest that seems to be taking place. A lot of just to the south, sorry, north of us here. I just took off my goggles to make sure I was not able to see various officers badges, specifically their IDs. So I'm just trying to press fast. Let's do not matter. So can I see your name, please? You might number your number, your number, your number, keep moving. What about your name? What is your name? Say, go to jail. Go. Go to jail! Boom. I am not resisting. I am not resisting. I am not resisting. I have pressed. Work Environment, I am resisting. I am not resisting. I thought we were pushing him. Because we were resisting. I am outraged. I am not resisting. I am pressed. My name is Lee Blake. I am pressed. I am not resisting. I am pressed. I am not resisting. I am pressed. My name is Lee Blake. I am not working as press. I told you I had him. I had him arrested. Once again I asked the officer his name. This officer right there and I was better arrested. I am with the press. I am with the press. I am with the press. Don't touch me. I am with the press. I am with the press. I have a right to be here. I am a journalist. What's your name? Don't touch me. Don't touch me. I am trying to get to my office right there. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. I am with the press. I am with the press. My beautiful sister here. She's the nurse. I am an Air Force medic. I am documenting them treating this woman right now that was shot in the back of the head. Come on! They're shooting rubber bullets. Stay away from me. Because there's not that much space there. I don't want to make sure that they know. They put all that crowd in there. And I know you guys heard all those shots. And there was like 50 of them. And it was like 20 people. And look, now they're going the other way. Oh, wait, I don't know if you guys were always seeing. I'm so sorry. But like, they're surrounding people from both sides and just shooting. They're just shooting up close. Because they get down, you're going to be arrested. All right. Are you holding me? I'm going to be there. I'm going the other way. That's right. Get down. Get down. their trailer sin I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. I'm not going to let you down. Do you want to do the puzzle? Oh, shut up! Manage, you can make the whole franchise Schulen. All of this will work. that's right Oh, sorry, oh my gosh. Come back here! Come back here... Come back! You are one or two Jáod paddies for a long time. Alright y'know, Duck For Home, we're up for work now. Bye, then. of them. Mom. I'll see him, I'll see him. Oh, it's a lot of hurt. Protests are throwing the staff. It's just evil right now. This is what's being just looked into the streets. People are trying to kick it. Yeah, you see that? That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Oh, no. Someone's down! Someone's down! Fuck you! No, no, no, no, no! No, no, no! Someone's fucking down your area! Fuckin' dumbass! What? What? You have to put it down! Just get it! Yup, got that! Got it! We got that on camera! Yes, all! Got it! Hey! Hey, we see you! Don't worry, I got that one. Yup, still doing it! Are we fucking spinning on the person over there? Is there somebody that looks like they're being detained? Yeah, that guy's just sitting there. Can you see someone's spinning on the other side? Are you watching the cops fucking spinning on the person? Should we get that one? Yup, that's it! Got it! We got that on camera! Got it! Hey! Hey, we see you! Oh my god! Oh my god! Hey, there was just a one, so it was the campus manager there? Yes, the one on the ground. Yeah, the first spinning on the ground. Yeah! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Get back! Get back! I have it! Like Blues was just saying the energy out here is different. Different in the sense that I feel like just people are just happy to be together and walk in today. There's no violent tone, there's no angry. It's got to be like 600 or 700ish people. So we're stopping the intersection of McDowell and Fish Street. We're bringing the bike cops up. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, hey, how are you? Did you get arrested the other night? How was it? Okay! Don't run! Don't run! Peaceful protest just turned violent. That hit me in the leg, that really hurt actually. That really fucking hurt. Are you alright? I guess he's alright. That hurt. That exploded right on my leg really pretty much. I don't know what just happened. Why they felt that was necessary. I wasn't at the front of the group but I've been walking with this group for five hours. He's absolutely unnecessary. He's excessive force for sure. It's a peaceful gathered organized protest. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Up top. Alright, there's still throwing flashbangs. Still throwing flashbangs. They're throwing flashbangs directly at the people. That flashbang that went off wherever it went off. When it exploded it hit me in the leg. They've thrown four flashbang grenades so far. It's been a peaceful protest all day. There was absolutely no reason for it. It's what's the lever. He got pepper spray. He's been out here every day. Taking pictures. He's a photojournalist. The media has been targeted at the front lines of protests all across the country. The media has been targeted at the front lines of protests all across the country. The media has been targeted at the front lines of protests all across the country. Don't shoot! If you still, go home! Don't shoot! Don't shoot! Don't shoot! Don't shoot! That's about the fifth time this weekend that a flashbang has gone off at my feet. That one actually hurt when it exploded and hit me in the leg. That means they threw those first two flashbangs right into the group of people. You saw them run away. You were with us as we marched all the way here from Romair, Bearden Park. A completely peaceful protest. I put the blame on the officers. They're still throwing flashbangs. Still throwing them. We're holding here. They're throwing flashbang grenades right at the people. Not until we flash them. I'm not afraid of this guy who's not likely because I tell the fucking truth. I get a fucking pepper spray to y'all because he's shit. I got a booted from out my nose. I'm gonna fucking do this shit for y'all. He's been out here on the front line all five days. Police starts the violence. Watch again! Let's get the police out the violence. They're throwing flashbangs into a peaceful protest. They haven't shot off any pepper balls yet. They haven't sent out any tear gas canisters. They did pepper spray a couple of people. A piece of the flashbang. Here's kind of what the mark looks like when it explodes on the ground. It's a good way to disperse the crowd. But when they throw it right next to you, it hurts when it explodes. Everybody's still here. Why y'all throwing shit back here on the people out there? See, I hit us right. I'm gonna get my mask on in case I start throwing the canisters out again. What is there? Christy missed the whole peaceful protest. She shows up and starts throwing flashbangs. She's bad luck. So they've thrown about six or seven flashbangs into the crowd. One hit me in the leg. They maced that photojournalist right in the eyes. Officers have been targeting media on the front line across the country. It's not lost on us here. If you've been watching my livestreams, you know they targeted me on the front line. So even though they've thrown all those flashbangs, the group is still peaceful. They're here with their hands up. Nobody's throwing anything at the officers. I could expect another flashbang or two. They don't want us in this intersection. See this? This one they're using on civilian. They use an military-grade shit on civilians. They don't fuck up against me at peace evidence. So, as you saw, they held this line. The leaders of the crowd, the organizers and marshals, they want to keep it peaceful. They're trying to get everybody moving down this way. I'd probably get kicked out of it too. Power is a powerful thing. Power is a powerful thing, right? Riot police. Nobody's rioting. They're calling them a fast. They're running up to the phone of wine. We're just walking. Just walking. So what they're going to do, they're going to let this whole group go through. Then they're going to swing through and they're going to hold this line. And they're going to march behind us and push us out the street. Fast. They're not going to let us walk in our own pace. And they're going to shoot pepper balls if we stop. And people will run. It's already happening. You can see. They've got everybody trapped here. They're trapped. There's tear gas. They're trapped here. They're shooting pepper balls at us. They've thrown out tear gas. Flash bangs. Smoke. They just chased everybody down this way. There's a line of riot police up there. There's a line of riot police back there. They're trapped here. They're up top shooting at us. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. They're going to shoot. Here he is. Why are they shooting? Oh my god. Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. I cannot believe what just happened. I absolutely cannot believe what just happened. Bro, hit me. Oh, give me the. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Oh my god. Oh my god. My face is on fire. My eyes are on fire. They just saw. They trapped us. They trapped us. They had officers up in the parking structure. They were shooting pepperballs down on us. They blocked us in from both sides. This gate here is shut. And we had to rip it up and climb underneath it. Even as we were running through the parking garage, these officers over here were shooting pepperballs at us completely unprovoked. They shot tear gas. Like seven or eight canisters of tear gas. There's the most aggressive tear gas that they've done this entire weekend. 20 flashbangs. There's probably 150 riot officers that just converged on us. I'm all caught up. They trapped us there. They wouldn't let us through in either direction. We were funneled underneath this gate. There were 600 people there. They had officers positioned up on the second story of that parking structure shooting pepperballs at us. There are people injured. There are people injured here. They're not sending help at all. So they... She's got load sensor and she's gonna sit by tear gas. We're still throwing flashbangs out there. Are we trapped in here? Is there a place to go? Are we stuck? I don't know where we're supposed to go. That was one of the most... That was one of the most aggressive things I've ever seen in my entire life. They trapped us like fucking rats. You guys... Look, you got hit in the face right here with a pepperball. We're gonna face. Alright, they're trying to figure out. I'm gonna wait for them to figure it out. Pull my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. I don't... I don't understand what just happened. I don't... They cornered us. They trapped us like rats. They tear gas the entire group of about 400 people. They threw flashbangs into the crowd. They shot pepperballs. I just showed you. They shot that one guy in the face. They had officers up on the... They had officers up on the second floor. The parking structure across the street shooting down into the crowd relentlessly. All we were doing was walking by. They ran riot officers up to the front line. There seems that they might be cleared out up here. What's up? Are we good to go this? I don't know. They're gone? You know it's way away. What? Is that what? What? What's your eyes? What did I just put in my eyes? I got contacts in this, all right? Ugh. Ugh. Okay. I wanted to show you. What does it look like? They're still... They're still holding? Can we leave? Can we leave? Can we leave? My hands are up. Both my hands are up. I'm with the media. I'm with the media. There was no reason for that. My hands are up in the air. Can we leave? Are we safe? Can we leave? Are we still supposed to be trapped here? Can we leave? We're walking away. Can we leave? Let them leave. Let them leave. They're coming on a truck. They're coming on a truck with guns. They're coming on a truck with guns. Where are you? Okay. I'm going towards... I'm more in the episode right now. Ugh. Oh, my fucking eyes. Oh, my God. I'm heading to the car. I'm heading to be. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you? Could be here. I've never experienced anything like that in my life. I've never felt... I've never felt fear like that before. I thought that there was no telling what they were going to try and do. They were going to try and suffocate us. They closed us in. They were fucking suffocate. They corralled us into a spot that had a closed gate. And they had a line of officers at both ends of the street. They threw seven canisters of tear gas at us. Flashbangs, pepper balls, they shot that one guy in the face. I showed you. My arms are all cut up. My eyes are fucking on fire. People got hurt. That was totally unprovoked. We were just walking. That was the most aggressive I've seen. The officers were just being in some time. Apparently it's worse down there. We're going to walk away. This is the first time we can see my shadow. This is my first time in this entire weekend that I've walked around my hands in the air. I haven't felt fear for my life until just now. I'm scared. As soon as everybody was able to get out of the parking structure, but they're saying that the situation is worse up that way. I have no idea what justified that use of force at all. I have absolutely no idea what justified that use of force. I got everything on camera. Come on the other side of the street. I'm on the other side of the street. I'm going to shut this down and start a new live so that that can be documented and kept on record. I'll see you in a second.
