I almost suspect that the local Fake News wasn't aware of this being a drill. They seemed to have slipped up and put on people that didn't seem to be in on the drill.

Music Music Music Music Music And with a frightening morning in Palmdale, 9-1-1 calls of an active shooter on a school campus. A teenager was arrested after shooting another student at a high school. This all happened at Highland High School just after 7 a.m. That's on Highland Avenue in 25th Street, West. We have live team coverage, CBS 2's Candace Cron and Cara Finström. We begin with Candace who is live at the High School Candace. Jeff and Sharon, that 4-4-2 boy who was shot is expected to be a... Jaime here at Highland High School. The school is safe, it's been cleared. The lockdown just lifted within the last hour. But it was a much different, scarier scene early this morning. It's a few nights. It's real. Music We were there as Sheriff Deputies rushed to the school just after 7 a.m. after reports of shots fired on campus. Investigators say a 14-year-old boy shot another 14-year-old boy in the arm. The victim was taken to the hospital by car. And again, he's expected to be okay. Deputies eventually found the teen suspect and a rifle off campus. They took that teen into custody. The school was placed on lockdown for much of the morning until officers secured the area. Parents and family members of students showed up frantic and angry that yet another school shooting has happened. It's a lot of sadness because I currently have two friends in there, hiding for their lives. Hopefully they're safe right now. I hope everyone's safe in there. It was kind of hard to wrap my head around because it's just the kind of thing that you see on school. On the news that happens but we never would have thought that it would have happened to our own school. Music And it's happened again. Well, this is video of the students being taken to the Antelope Valley Mall after a shot's ring out. School officials just wanted to get them to a safe place while authorities investigated. We spoke to a captain who says they're now looking into the suspect's past activity. Authorities say students though are no longer in danger. Right now there's no threat to any campus here in the Antelope Valley. And we have a heavy presence out here and we have a suspect in custody and we feel very confident that our schools are safe. And now Carred Fistram continues our life team coverage. Yeah, the school here was put on lockdown because of a report of another gunshot being heard in this area. So deputies went into every classroom on this campus. They checked it. They found they found they found no evidence of any gunfire. Let's give you a look at what happened next. The principal tells us many families were shaken up by the site of so many deputies here and the thought of what could have happened. There's some parents showed up and took their children home. But classes here were not canceled. Other students did stay. The LA County Sheriff's Department says the report of possible gunfire came in at about 730. That's about a half hour after the reports of those shots at Highland High Palmdale unified quickly locked down all 27 of their elementary and middle schools as a precaution. We spoke with one woman who picked up her grandson. His mom called her asking her to get to the school right away. They just told us again the health office telling us that it was a drill. They just told us again the health office telling us that it was a drill. They just told us again the health office telling us that it was a drill here alive. We can also tell you that the district says they'll have some counselors on hand. And at this point, they don't know what really prompted that initial call whether it was someone who had bad intentions or whether someone really legitimately thought they heard gunfire. You serious? You're just watching, you're watching breaking news. This unfolded about 630, 630 or 730. There were multiple 911 calls that came in of an active shooter. And of course, law enforcement descended on the high school. All right, CVS 2 viewers. We're going to let you go to this commercial and we'll be back in just a minute to our K Cal 9 viewers. We are about to speak. Oh, we're going to speak to Kim Artucci. Kim, are you on the phone? Yes, I am. You work at this school. I do. Are you there now? No, they've sent us home. Tell us what I'm sorry, sure. Tell us what happened. I pulled up about five, six minutes after seven this morning and the school at that point is pretty empty. Yeah, school doesn't start until 736, 740. I pulled up about five, six minutes after seven this morning and the school at that point is pretty empty. Oh, yeah, school doesn't start until 736, 740. So the school is pretty empty at 7. Caught. I got there about 705 and actual parent or somebody that doesn't work there was kind of directing traffic telling people that there was an active shooter. You talk to what you talk to what you over there. I know about your kind. You're like the independent network news on channel nine. So the school is pretty empty at 7. Caught. I got there about 705 and actual parent or somebody that doesn't work there was kind of directing traffic telling people that there was an active shooter. So I went ahead and went through and I see security kind of walk around campus and then all of a sudden I see a whole bunch of sheriff cars just flying around campus. And you talk about that. I say you took it right back. Then they told us to just backup backup, which I did. Of course, I've called friends that were in the offices who are on lockdown who had to answer her phone and she was actually whispering to me that they had heard gunshots in the commons area. Yes, the school is really big. It's really spread out. And those are where the actual buildings in the offices and some classrooms are. And then out to where I am. There's more bungalows. Okay. So the common area is kind of like outside the cafeteria and just a big open area that's in close where the kids can sit and eat. I'm holding on for a minute, Kim, our CBS 2 viewers. We are back with continuing coverage of an active shooter. We're speaking with Kim, our two, she who is an employee at the school who arrived shortly after 7am. To news that there was an active shooter, so Kim, continue for us. Of course, I called friends that worked in the office. She was under her desk having two whisper to me saying that they did hear the shots. They were, they sounded like that they were right outside the office. And that was all that she knew. I then heard that there was, first I heard it was a young black student with a long gun. But now I'm not sure if, now I'm hearing it was Hispanic and he's possibly been caught about a half a mile away at a grocery store. So that's all we know for now. And where did you hear that? On the scanner, the police scanner. Okay, the police scanner, right? Everybody seems to have one. Have one out there, yeah. So you said shots, that's plural, right? Did you hear anything about a person being hit? No, I didn't. Not until a little while later on a Facebook scanner page, where other people are listening to other standards said that somebody would you hold that thought for a second? You'll be right back. All right. Kim, we are seeing the first images coming in from the first live shot coming in from from Palmdale. Oh, the streets are cleared. It looks like there's a few cars in the middle of what looks like that that straight there. And this is very, this is very telling and I look at the demeanor of the two people who are there to help on the far corner. That's not the demeanor of somebody who's taking cover and worrying about an active shooter. Now I don't have an hammer say that I'll do nothing. I'm not so big. One bite and kill a big man. You talk too much. Never shut up. I said you talk too much. Oh boy, you never shut up. This is very, this is very telling and I look at the demeanor of the two people who are there to help on the far corner. That's not the demeanor of somebody who's taking cover and worrying about an active shooter. Now we don't have what police call a code four, which means all, all is well and done. But when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. I'm no shit, Sherlock. But like you said, they don't look like they're real panicked right now. Like they were a half an hour ago, a half an hour ago. It was total chaos. Yeah. And you're seeing you're seeing exactly what last person we talked to, Cindy Connelly said she was doing when we called a lot of people in Palmdale praying for the safety of those students and the safety of the officers responding. Kim, you mentioned that you had arrived there just after seven o'clock. See what you're saying is that the students aren't even there yet, right? There's very, very few there. Yeah, very faculty or other are school employees. The only ones that are really there are office employees. Most of the other staff don't start showing up until 715 730. So the school is pretty, pretty empty at that time. So the school is pretty, pretty empty at that time. So the school is pretty, pretty empty at that time. I mean, but when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But it when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned beautifully now, but when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now but when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now, but when you look at those people, it doesn't look like they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people... doesn't look like... they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people... It doesn't look like... they're all that concerned right now. But when you look at those people... doesn't look like... They're all that concerned right now, I mean. You're not moving fast and your brains move in trouble. You talk too much. You never shut up. I said you talk too much. Oh boy, you never shut up. You're the instigator. Be all right.
