China has been under reporting its numbers in a mysterious lack of testing in many countries. Cases of Coronavirus are exploding all over the world. The United States records its first coronavirus death cases are exploding all over the world. And this is pretty much your last state to prepare. Pretty much your last state to prepare. Pretty much your last state to prepare. It's in Korea, South Korea. It's in your state. It's in your state. It's in your state. This, Americans sick with the coronavirus, who need to be kept in isolation, This American sick with the coronavirus who need to be kept in isolation. The doors are especially sealed. Carl Goldman is one of 57 Americans fighting the disease. We are asking the American public to work with us to prepare and the expectation that this could be bad. In their most clear warning yet, the CDC all but promises that the coronavirus will spread here and that Americans need to prepare. We expect we will see community spread in this country. It's not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness. We've all been here before. We've all been here before. The key stock index lost 3,500 points this week, wiping out more than $3 trillion worth of value. University of Connecticut ordering their 88 students in Italy to return to the US. This comes as Pope Francis cancels his public events for the third day. After reports, he came down with a cold. The 83 year old seen here coffee and blowing his nose during Ash Wednesday night. The spread of the coronavirus, the World Health Organization says the risk of the virus expanding worldwide is now classified as very high. The continued increase in the number of cases and the number of affected countries over the last few days are clearly of concern. Our epidemiologists have been monitoring this developments continuously and we have now increased our assessment of the risk of spread and the risk of impact of COVID-19 to very high at global level. I'm just asking you, do you believe the coronavirus is a hoax? We're working to keep people safe. You can't even ask that question. It's a very, it's not even a gotcha question. It's a gotcha moment. It's not useful. It is a look at the look of our hopes. Can you just answer that question? We're taking it seriously. This is a seriously, this is a seriously, this is a, this is a, this is a, this is a, this is a, I also created a White House virus task force. It's a big thing. A virus task force are requested $2.5 billion to ensure we have the resources we need. I requested $2.5 billion to $1.5 billion. One person with coronavirus in King County, Washington State has died. This now makes the first coronavirus death confirmed in the U.S. Breaking news on the coronavirus, the first reported death in the United States and new travel restrictions just announced by the White House. Good evening, I'm Jessica Moore. We begin tonight with that breaking news on the outbreak. Washington State has declared a state of emergency after reporting the first person in the U.S. to die of coronavirus. This afternoon, Vice President Mike Pence announced new travel restrictions to Iran, Italy, and South Korea. This all comes as the FDA just approved testing for the virus in New York State. CBS2's Christina Fan joins us now with a lot more on today's developments. Christina. Well, Jessica, we have learned from officials that the first coronavirus death was a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions. There are now 22 U.S. cases and the president says more are likely. Hours after the coronavirus claimed its first American life, the White House authorized sweeping new travel restrictions and warnings. There's no reason to panic at all. This is something that is being handled professionally. Among the new edicts and expanded ban on travel from Iran, Americans also urged not to travel to areas in Italy and South Korea, most affected by the virus. The president also floating the possibility of closing the southern border. Additional cases in the United States are likely, but healthy individuals should be able to fully recover. The assurance came as Washington State declared a state of emergency Saturday following a rise in new cases and the nation's first death. People say the man was medically high risk and in his late 50s. For others are for real, thankfully, 15 are either recovered fully or they're well in their way to recovery. Meanwhile in New York, a small victory, the CDC granting permission to the state to run its own test for the coronavirus, cutting down on wait time. It'll take a burden off the CDC and it will get us answers faster. So far, there are still no confirmed cases in our area. The latest suspected patient in New York City tested negative results are still pending for another patient at Bayshore Medical Center in Mommoth County, New Jersey. And just a few moments ago, we found out that that suspected case in New Jersey also came back negative. Meanwhile, President Trump announced that he will be meeting with pharmaceutical companies at the White House on Monday to discuss the development of a coronavirus vaccine. Jessica, all right. Thanks so much, Christina. Breaking news. The first death from coronavirus here in the United States. A man in his 50s, dying from COVID-19 infection in Washington State. CDC says a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions has died and he had no known travel to China. Governments across the world are bolstering their response as numbers of cases rise. The US announced its first death from the disease of a woman in her 50s and it increased travel restrictions from Iran. She was a wonderful woman, a medically high-risk patient in her late 50s. CDC says a man in his 50s. She was a wonderful woman. Jessica, we have learned from officials that the first coronavirus death was a man in his 50s. She was a wonderful woman, a medically high-risk patient in her late 50s. Her others are very ill. Thankfully 15 are either recovered fully or they are well on their way to recovery. France has banned gatherings of over 5,000 people. France has banned gatherings of over 5,000 people. COVID-19 is quickly gaining ground on French soil. Over 70 cases have been identified in France since January. In a bid to slow down the number of infections, the government announced it would cancel mass gatherings across the country, including Sunday's Paris-Half Marathon, with 44,000 registered participants. All gatherings have more than 5,000 people in an enclosed space for be cancelled. In conjunction with local mayors, French departments will receive orders to cancel gatherings, including in open areas when they lead to conditions where the virus may circulate. France has banned gatherings of over 5,000 people. We have all been here, but we have all been here. Chinese President Xi Jinping has thanked Bill Gates for his foundations, contribution in a fight against the coronavirus. In a letter to Mr. Gates, President Xi Jinping's Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation acted quickly and has played an active role in the global response to the virus. Xi Jinping also said he supports the foundation's cooperation with relevant Chinese institutions. Bill Gates wrote to President Xi Jinping on February 6, saying his foundation has committed up to $100 million in emergency funding to stop the spread of the virus. Much of it will be used to help China. The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress adopted a ban on wildlife trade on Monday, and those who consume wild animals will face harsher punishments. The ban includes wild animals, bread or red in captivity. China is not the only country cracking down on the illegal wildlife trade. Another nation is also following suit. They had no idea that this famous center in Aniston will be used to quarantine some passengers from the Diamond Princess and were notified again at around noon. Aniston Mayor Jake Draper stressed that this is a decision from the federal government and broke down what's to be expected. He says passengers who tested positive but do not have symptoms will be quarantined at this famous center. He says if in evacuee become seriously ill, they will be transported to a predetermined hospital but wasn't able to identify exactly which hospital. He mentioned that passengers will be kept in a separate area than the training facility but says the federal government is making it certain that the public will be okay. This comes after dozens of evacuees from the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Quarantine in Japan were allowed to fly back to the United States Sunday despite testing positive for the coronavirus. It is important to stress and emphasize that the federal government has assured us that these patients will not have an impact on a local community. Now Aniston City officials do say that they are planning to put a stop to this and they plan to take this to federal court coming up tonight at 10 you'll hear a reaction from some of the residents. We're live tonight in Aniston, Cory McGuinness, CBS 42 News, local coverage. You can count. Cory. I should be doing right now. Los Angeles as well has self-quarantine 1000 people. You see it's going to take a different form here in the United States because if we just started welding bars to people's apartments to trap them in and sending drones with their monitors to take people's temperatures, people would freak out here. You can't do it like that. China has, as we've talked about in the past, already been the trailblazer. The psychological icebreaker that demonstrates to the rest of the world what kinds of extreme totalitarian measures are expected to be taken to contain an outbreak like this. Now the US slowly will unveil those things, raise that frog temperature up a little bit at a time. But the indications are there that it's going to go all the way towards the medical martial law that they want. That's by design. And of course, as I mentioned, the US military branches are springing into action after a executive order was passed yesterday. That document does describe how they will be providing quarantine assistance as well as surge production of vaccines and, of course, emergency mortuaries. A number of provisions were described. But the most chilling thing is just that it's somehow all right to unveil the United States military on domestic soil, which is a blatant violation of posse commentatus. Have you ever had a nightmare about being permanently confined to your house? Can you imagine one day waking up to find police officers and soldiers right outside your front door refusing to let you leave? That could never happen in America in response to a pandemic. Could it? Hey, legal eagles, it's time to think like a lawyer because the world is facing a pandemic. This is going to be a bit more speculative than most of the normal videos on this channel because we're going to explore whether the US could legally quarantine town cities and states the way some other countries are. It might be surprised to learn that there is both US, precedent and law on the subject. Question is, can you challenge a quarantine order today and could you stop a quarantine in the United States? Certainly, modern medicine has progressed a long way since 1917. Well, the answer is probably yes, you can challenge it depending on the circumstances. The constitution says the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it. Generally, this means that a person has the right to petition the court if they are illegally confined. This procedure is used most often to challenge a criminal conviction, but it also applies to quarantine cases. That being said, it's not often easy to win the habeas case. In 2014, Thomas Eric Duncan, the first man in America to be diagnosed with Ebola died after Dallas Hospital failed to recognize the signs of the disease. They sent him home with a sinusitis diagnosis, and his fiance, Luis Trow, experienced a nightmare scenario I discussed at the beginning of the video. She woke up one day to a court order and armed guards posted outside of her apartment. Trow and her family were confined for 14 days and then sent into a Catholic cottage for the remainder of a 21-day order. After Duncan's death, Trow's apartment was fumigated and many of her possessions were destroyed. Trow was left homeless after several landlords denied her rental applications. Trow didn't actually challenge the order in court, but her case illustrates how restrictive of personal freedom quarantine and isolation can be, limiting a person's ability to travel, work, and to find a place to live. And it's very difficult to overturn one of these orders. You have to show that the government is acting in an arbitrary and capricious manner. The Florida Supreme Court set the state standard for reasonableness of a state quarantine order in a 1956 case called More Versus Draper. There, the plaintiff had challenged his quarantine for tuberculosis. The Florida court said that, quote, the constitutional guarantees of life, liberty, and property of which a person cannot be deprived without due process of law, do not limit the exercise of the police power of the state to preserve the public health, so long as that power is reasonably and fairly exercised and not abused. Although federal courts are not bound by the Florida Supreme Court's decision, its statement of the law is regarded as the general standard for determining whether a person's due process rights were violated. There are other issues about how far authorities can push their quarantine in isolation orders. Generally a person in a civil confinement context like isolation or quarantine should be free from physical restraint. But if you were subject to isolation showing no symptoms of infection and you tried to leave, could authorities actually restrain you? According to the Supreme Court, the answer is probably yes, if you are, quote, a dangerous patient. Again, it's pretty easy for the state to prove that a person is dangerous if they are contagious. Authorities only need to show that the reason for the restraint and confinement is not arbitrary. But that's not to say that there aren't cases where the government has acted unreasonably. For example, in 2007, the ACLU challenged a dangerous patient determination on behalf of Robert Daniels, a quarantine tuberculosis patient, who emigrated from Russia to Arizona. Daniels had been diagnosed with dangerous TB and when Daniels defied a court order requiring him to wear a face mask he refused, leading to his arrest and confinement in the Maricopa County Jail. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpio, you might remember that guy, kept Daniels in solitary confinement for nearly a year. Under the ACLU lawsuit, the County Transfer Daniels to National Jewish Hospital, where physicians determined that he actually didn't have dangerous and contagious TB. Where physicians determined that he actually didn't have dangerous and contagious TB. Where physicians determined that he actually didn't have dangerous and contagious TB. After which Daniels returned to Russia, Arpio was later convicted of criminal contempt for ignoring a court order in a separate matter. Donald Trump then pardoned Arpio and they all lived happily ever after. I stand by my pardon of Sheriff Joe. And as per whether the US government could affect a nation or statewide quarantine, well, the government has wide latitude to isolate and quarantine anyone who has been in the area of Wuhan over the last couple of months. But for better or worse, generally the isolation and quarantine orders can't last longer than the incubation period of the targeted disease. The CDC currently estimates that the incubation period is about 14 days for the 2019 coronavirus based on previous iterations. Of course, UC Davis, a hospital in Sacramento, asked the CDC for test kits last week, but was declined. So this mismanagement sort of continues. They were declined because that wasn't the protocol. And as we know, there's only a few hundred test kits left in the US at this point anyway. So the situation is being poorly managed almost to the point where it would seem deliberate. One might argue. Because the symptoms are often non-specific like fever and cough and because the test kits are often unreliable, there have been several reports of both false positives and false negatives. In China, there are more than 100 manufacturers of these test kits with wide ranges of variability, of reliability and accuracy. Both false positives, both false positives, both false positives. The assurance came as Washington state declared a state of emergency Saturday following a rise in new cases and the nation's first death. Thirds from the Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary Michael Leavitt from 2007 where he said, quote, we don't know when the pandemic might strike, but we can be sure of two things. First, what we do before it will seem alarmist because we won't fully appreciate the gravity of the situation. That's why I'm still making videos about this, ladies and gentlemen. It's not alarmist. It's not doom and gloom because it seems alarmist because we don't yet fully appreciate the gravity of the situation that's going on right now. The extent to which they're going to cause pain, inflict pain on the world population so that we accept the next leg of their totalitarian agenda. And what is that like? It's forced vaccinations. That's a big part of it. And then he also added everything we do after the pandemic will seem inadequate. Now, what are these, what's he saying here? What he's saying is the scale of this is so off the charts that it will fundamentally change our perception of what is required. Just as China has gone and welded bars on buildings and sent drones with thermometers and all the unthinkable things they've done, well, those somehow now that's all needed and that's all for the greater good. And we can justify that if it's going to save our life, if it's going to give us our Doritos for a few more days dancing with the stars, just anything. It's like that scene from network. Anything, just leave me alone in my shrinking world, please. So what is it that is going to so drastically shift our perceptions that these things become acceptable to us, things like this, ladies and gentlemen, airplanes spread disease quickly. So maybe the unvaccinated people shouldn't be allowed to fly. Right now this proposition, I hope to you, sounds ludicrous, it sounds ridiculous, it sounds like an immense violation of personal rights, constitutional freedoms, the ability to travel being among them. What is it that would so radically shift your perceptions, most people's perceptions that this would be a shun, that this would be a no-brainer, that of course we have to vaccinate people before they get on the plane. How many people would have to die before the public would accept this? How many thousands, how many millions, what do you think, how far do they have to push it before this initiative passes easily? That's the question I'm posing to you tonight. We've seen mentions of the fact that it was a flight attendant working out of LAX, a Los Angeles, who would be now one of the latest superspedders. We've seen the invocation of that language, superspreader, always associated with people that are traveling. So they're definitely seeding this concept of people that are being highly contagious because they're traveling, largely have been focused on the diet, but equally important to their agenda is the injections. And so I'll reference Bertrand Russell's quote, which has been digging around my head for a few days and now I know why. So diet, injections and injunctions will combine from a very early age to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that will be desirable to the authorities, to the powers that be, and any serious criticism of them will become psychologically impossible, physiologically inconceivable. You will be so enslaved by their toxic reality that it will be, as another quote of his said, like a sheep questioning the farmer before the slaughter. It's just it'll, it can't happen. It's impossible. They're on two different levels. Now I talk a lot about the diet, you know, just to break these three things down, diet, injection and injunctions. I've spoken at great length, this entire channel is about the fact that there is a war on food, the war on our ability to grow, nutritive food, defeat our family to be self-sufficient away from these systems of enslavement and toxic food that the establishment runs. And we've seen, in fact, just looking at this headline, the virus will not stop beyond meat from entering China in 2020. Somehow the entire supply chain shuts down, but the fake meat, the lab-grown meat, rumbles on forward. We've all been here before. We've all been here before. As of the Saturday and Wednesday, we had reported about 4,600 cases worldwide, 275 deaths. About 26 different countries now have cases of this new pneumonia-like illness. What we know, what little we know about this coronavirus so far, is that it appears to be spread most often from droplets, they sneeze and coughing. Possibly also it survives on surfaces, and that's why it can be so contagious. The great fear here, Martha, is that if we get large numbers of cases, our hospitals are not ready to handle those. The killer bug is now striking the front line of defense. Doctors, nurses and healthcare workers now make up a quarter of all victims. The SARS is becoming more aggressive, the number of victims expected to triple within weeks. Despite government assurances, its under control, doctors are no longer willing to hide their grave fears. If there's any further outbreak of cases in the territory, I'm afraid that the public system will not able to help. We are truly in the middle of the evolution of an epidemic. First, the virus has already killed millions of chickens and wild birds, and it has the potential to affect billions of people. Dr. Greg Poland of Mayo Clinic says the virus needs the conditions of pandemic influenza, and could kill half of those infected. The world's top health experts gathered in Canada now say the eventual human toll will be significant. A pandemic is sure to occur, but we are not sure of the timing. The range of deaths could be anything between 5 and 150 million. The first and latest on the swine flu epidemic, which the CDC said today has spread widely and cannot be contained. This is obviously a cause for concern and requires heightened state of alert. Health officials worry about a possible swine flu pandemic. You could be looking at 25 or percent or more people affected, which is a significant number of significant portion of people actually been incredibly ill and really overwhelming healthcare systems. Doctors warned that it's still new to mutate, to kill dormant, return more virulent, which is what happened in the fall of 1918. We found this graphic animation, which showed what happened in just a few weeks' time when it returned in the fall so strong and much stronger in fact that it wasn't a spring for fire to eat. For many, the heightened concern brings back memories of the swine flu threat of 1976. An unprecedented campaign, though the real danger, never really surfaced. New alarm tonight from the CDC about an outbreak of the West Nile virus, more widespread than they have ever seen before. The virus has now been detected in 43 states it is carried by mosquitoes. It'll seem like you have the flu. And if you've got the flu in an area where there's West Nile circulating, it could be this disease. Go to the deadly Ebola outbreak and a new warning tonight from one of the nation's top doctors, the head of the CDC. Something that the outbreak in Africa is even worse than we feared. It will soon rank as this country's worst Ebola epidemic, with a multinational team now struggling to contain it. Ebola! Ebola! It's a mosquito-borne virus, part of the same family as Yellow Fever, West Nile, Chicken Gunner, and Ganga. As things stay in now, there is no vaccine to prevent Zika, or medicine to treat infection. The most common symptoms include fever, rash, headaches, and red eyes. But even if you're some of people who get Zika, won't even know they have it. That's right. They're only symptoms in one in five people. We've opened hair-per-fuel. We've opened hair-per-fuel. Latest count, one new case of mosquito transmitted infection, bringing the total number to 15. Experts now encouraging repellents like deep for everyone here. It should basically be the new perfume for Miami. The level of alarm is extremely high. The World Health Organization said it's pulling together an emergency response committee, saying the Zika virus is, quote, spreading explosively. So far in the U.S., there are more than 30 cases detected in 11 states in the District of Columbia. All brought back from travel abroad. President Obama, spending a Friday night calling the President of Brazil about the dangerous Zika virus. It is quickly spreading across the United States and the Western Hemisphere. More than 30 people in the United States across 11 states and Washington, DC, diagnosed with Zika. How dangerous, how contagious, and do you need to be worried? Director of the University of New York, Dr. Tom Frieden, goes. All right. A fox news alert now. Five New York state residents have tested positive for the mosquito transmitted Zika virus, which causes major brain defects to unborn babies. It's starting the virus just warned that it could take up to a decade before a vaccine is made available to the public. So what can people do to stay safe? What can people do to stay safe? What can people do to stay safe? Are you nervous about the coronavirus? What is happening in Hong Kong right now? No. No. Hi, Ron Good Morning. It is a fox news alert, the National Institute of Health. Now calling the Zika virus a pandemic inside the United States with 36 cases already confirmed in 11 separate states. In assessing the level of threat, the 18 experts and advisers looked in particular at the strong association in time and in space between infection with the Zika virus and arise in detect cases of congenital malformations and neurological complications. The experts agree that a partial relationship between the Zika infection during pregnancy and microcephaly is strongly suspected, though not yet scientifically proven. All agree on the urgent need to coordinate international ethics to investigate and understand this relationship better. Members of the committee agree that the situation meets the conditions for a public health emergency of international concern and meets the conditions for a public health emergency of international concern. I am declaring a public health emergency of international concern and meets the conditions for a public health emergency of international concern. I am declaring a public health emergency of international concern over the global outbreak of novel coronavirus. The World Health Organization says the crisis is evidence the world was badly prepared for this type of pandemic. We must use the window of opportunity we have to intensify our preparedness. As the World Health Organization encourages global cooperation. The greatest enemy we face is not the virus itself. It's the stigma that turns us against each other. When it talks about terrorism and imagine the level of preparation and zone is immense. To be honest, a virus is more powerful in creating political, economic and social appeal than any terrorist attack. Believe it or not. Cousin about terrorism and so on. But a virus can have more powerful consequences than any terrorist action. And that's true. Are you nervous about the coronavirus? What is happening in Hong Kong right now? No. No. You still let him go in. I can't see what's inside. I can't see it. I wasn't even allowed into the hospital. I just went to the gate and they sent me back. The hospital is completely sealed off and there's nothing he can do but wait for information. They didn't give me anything. I don't even know my dad's room number. If the hospital leads something, they'll probably notify me. Otherwise there's no way I can ask about my dad. I won't know how he is doing or how the treatment goes. I'm helpless.
