"STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gina Luongo, a devoted teacher, Little League and high school basketball coach, and mother of three who became a supporter of New York’s proposed Medical Aid in Dying Act following her stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, has died. She was 52.

"Luongo, a West Brighton resident and lifelong Staten Islander, 'died suddenly,' according to an update posted by her family to a GoFundMe fundraiser that was initially organized in December 2023 following the discovery of cancer that November."
